“A fraternity of Coyotls? You can’t be serious.”
Monroe and Rosalee listen intently to Nick’s description of the case so far, with Monroe’s expression of disbelief concerning the existence of the Chi Tau Lambda fraternity being the only interruption.
“But I am, Monroe. You know, I wish that just once there would be a garden-variety murder in this city without any Wesen involved.”
“Eight Coyotls under one roof and you don’t think any of them killed her?” asks Rosalee.
“I wonder whose great idea that was. I mean, fraternities and Wesen are dangerous enough on their own—generally speaking, of course—but then you put them together and you might as well be asking for World War III! It’s that pack mentality, man!” Monroe gets up from his seat and paces nervously around the back room of the Spice Shop as if such an explosive conflict is imminent and

Nick and Will return to the precinct to fill out their reports on their visit with Cole, their broken witness. There is not much that they want to talk about, so the forms are filled out without discussion. Nick is in the process of gathering the reports to deliver to his captain when his phone rings. The screen declares the caller to be an unfamiliar number.
“Hey, Detective. It’s Cole.” His voice is slow and pained, similar to the state of his thoughts.
“Cole. How are you?” Regardless of Cole’s likely damaged state, Nick is nonetheless relieved to know that he is conscious and alive.
“I’ve been better, Detective. I was maybe three-fourths of the way through a bottle of vodka when I blacked out. I was awakened by my friend Charles clumsily trying to find my pulse.”
“Sorry to hear that.”
“Yeah.” Cole clears his throat on the other

“I met Amelia in the third grade, when she moved to Portland from somewhere in Washington state,” Cole’s monologue begins. “Even then, she was extremely shy, but I was very outgoing. I wouldn’t let her always be alone like she wanted. Eventually, she realized that I wasn’t going to leave her alone and it would be a lot easier for her to be my friend. I was very persistent.” He mostly keeps his eyes on the ground, kicking up dirt as he walks with no real direction in mind. His hands are shoved awkwardly in the pockets of his hoodie. A few stray classmates notice him and call his name, and any girls who pass by stop to say hello, but he just nods politely, smiles, doesn’t say a word. Nick and Will try to be as inconspicuous as possible, despite being wholly out of place and being reminded of that fact with each glare they receive from a student.

Juliette's call didn’t come as a surprise for Monroe. Not at first, at least.
She may be Nick's Ex, but she is also a nice and likeable woman. After their break-up she and Nick still remained friends, as they simply acknowledged that feelings can change over time, and that they spent most of their time apart from each other, and so they broke up on good terms before they could start to resent each other for drifting apart.
Now they behaved more like friends, siblings, and Monroe and Juliette talked from time to time over the phone, about cooking and gardening and how Nick needs patching up so often, so he wasn’t at all surprised to hear her voice as he picked up his phone while Nick was out.
"Hey, Juliette. What can I do for you?"
"Do you have a little time, or are you busy with something important?"
"No, I just finished with my latest c
